One of the great landsailing photos depicting our sport as we know it portraying motion, mood, feeling and determination. French class 5 pilot Alban Morandiere F577 overshadows Brit Tim Spiers K109 in a tightly-contested c5 battle.

Hans-Werner Eickstadt's new delta axle that had 20mm tracking probs. French sails!! Fast!! They literally flew around the course. The oyster man in his pictorial splendour!

Looks like rain so we head for the sailing club bar and free food!

Can I have your sandwich? Georgs and Sven debating the ownership of a sarnie. What can you say of Class 5 pilots... no class?

The Argentinians gave it all at the flag-raising ceremony. Part of the large crowd who attended the Opening Ceremony. A swamped yacht park along the Promenade.

There is only Pat Nixon who keeps it all to herself...

Anything to keep the rain off! Our German friend who is staying at the same B&B. Another way of not wearing glasses, or looking at the world through rose-tinted lenses! What can you say...? These c2 Belgian pilots are advertising their prowess both on and off the beach!

What can you do when you're offered...? Prizegiving in the covered area. Scoring ladies.

This Class 2 fell over on the start line! Class 5s on the line. A strong wind race.

British pilot Nigel Spurr out in his Class 2 race with a nice Wirral sky, angel rays and all, as a backdrop. Nigel finished 8th overall in the Class 2 week-long competition, earning him the title of first British c2 pilot home!

British c5 pilot Mark Lloyd who finished 14th overall in Class 5 battling it out in his French-built "Plume" yacht at Hoylake on Thursday.

Watching goings on. Time to relax! Lots to smile about!

Serious Irish... Alan Watson posing. Dorset-man Mark Lloyd having a yabber! Two sandyacht layabouts after the opening ceremony!

Do you think this has something to do with the males in sand yachting.

Class 2 winner and placegetters receive their awards on friday night.
