Colin Palmer, who eventually won Class 4, shows a clean pair of heels to Bob Mason, Bill Nairn (NZ312), Bill Hayward and Mark Backhaus!

Rotorua's Ron Heydon (foreground) surveys his front wheel while everyone else readies for a start in Class 5.

Karla Mason in her YOTT NZ301 is set to head off in the start of another c5 race. Mike Nairn in his Fed 5 NZ311 showed everyone that the older yachts can foot it with the YOTTs. Mike was the third overall in the 5s at the nationals.

Hometown boy Darren Laugesen in his pristine YOTT made every post a winning one. Fellow Ohopean Clem Kinnaird gives chase.

Clem Kinnaird in his own design NZ701 amazed everyone with how well he had the yacht going. Clem, by far the lightest of c5 pilots in NZ, handled the stiff 18 knot breeze to perfection.

Clem Kinnaird gets the chequered flag after one of the exhausting 40 minute races. Clem finished up with two wins and two seconds to take first equal overall.

Darren Laugesen collects one of his two victories, ending up the day tied with fellow club member Clem Kinnaird.

Ron Heydon (foreground), Bob Mason (holding mast) and Karla Mason (sitting in YOTT) pass the time of day with Mervyn Hurley and his daughter, Courtenay who came to the event on crutches.
