From: Andy Parrarp@evansroach.fsnet.co.uk Subject: GALES... Date: Tue, 31 Oct 2000 21:20:48 -0000 The gales were indeed stupendous... I took the Ludic to Cefn Sidan for the ultimate test and found the kite buggy boys holding their 4 hour enduro in a howling Force 10 with torrential rain. In all fairness it was probably Force 8 but in the squalls, which hit every 10 minutes or so. The gusts were incredible - the RAF station behind the dunes recorded gusts of 65 mph. After the kite boys had finished their Enduro, the sun came out and I sailed up to the river and back but frankly it wasn't much fun as the wind was so strong that it was blowing the waves right back up the beach to above the highwater line where they miraculously disappeared. Given that the tide would normally have been out by a good half mile at the time, that was one hell of a sight, last seen last time we had truly silly winds about 3 years ago. The Ludic held together, but I'd advise against its use in silly winds, unless you hoist a pocket handkerchief... Andy Parr K445 |
