A BRITISH ATTEMPT AT THE WIND-POWERED SPEED RECORD
From Gareth Rowland

Went to Waddington near Lincoln on Tuesday October 23 to meet Richard Jenkins and have a look at The WindJet. Richard is staying at Waddington till he gets the record. The way the yacht looks he might get it.

Believe it or not, after he gets the land record Richard wants to do it on ice! Primed him that it was a different ball game. Suggested he take another pair of brown trousers. Suggested that he come with Chris Williams and the British Icesailing Team in Nov/Dec to get an idea of what is involved. Showed him pictures of the ice and he came up with ideas of cleaning and planing the ice flat!

Took some pictures of the WindJet in the hangar. I was not allowed to take any close ups of the yacht as it seem there is some "competition" and rivalry. The craft has a 3-section full wind mast, capable of sailing both directions, or any direction for that matter once the speed is up. To keep the whole thing on the ground three F1 tyres stick it to the tarmac and adjustable wings on the axle can adjust the ground force from one side or the other.
